Mirror cartoon strip, has penned a new Mr Digwell: A Year in the Garden book published by Haynes.
Mr Digwell originally appeared as a gardening character in the Daily Mirror from 1947 to 1988 where he gave advice to millions of gardeners every week. Last year the Mirror resurrected and updated the cartoon strip with horticultural writer and broadcaster Paul Peacock providing additional gardening tips with the cartoon every Saturday.
With the resurgence in interest in 'growing your own veg' in the garden or allotment the Mr Digwell column has become hugely popular once again. Its practical and timely advice has hit a cord with readers who want a no nonsense approach to gardening.
Illustrated with Mr Digwells' up to date cartoons, the Mr Digwell: A Year in the Garden takes the reader on a month by month journey through all areas of gardening in an easy to understand format. Mr Digwell dispenses advice on perfect lawns, stunning shrubberies and unusual specimen plants. A reference book gardeners can turn to again and again Mr Digwell: A Year in the Garden proves that old school Mr Digwell can be relied upon to have the answers every gardener needs.
Paul Peacock says: "I was thrilled to be asked to take on the guise of the legendary Mr Digwell and really enjoy dispensing practical advice in the weekly column. With the resurgence in interest in growing your own veg it is no surprise that Mr Digwell is popular again - his down to earth approach is accessible to all gardeners however experienced they are."
